Report shows dismal job loss for NM

A report released Friday by the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions indicates New Mexico has lost 9,200 jobs in the last year, while in the rest of the Southwest has seen gains.
According to the report, the state has seen a 1.1 percent job loss since September 2011, which represents about 9,200 positions. Meanwhile, Texas has seen a 2.5 percent gain, Oklahoma and Arizona a 2.4 percent gain, California a 2.0 percent gain, and Colorado has seen a 1.6 percent gain in job growth.
In New Mexico saw the most gains in the leisure and hospitality industry, educational and health services, mining, and manufacturing, transportation, and wholesale trade.
In contrast, the state lost thousands of jobs in government positions, construction, retail, and professional services.
