AFD saves woman, 88, from house fire

Albuquerque fire crews saved an 88-year-old woman trapped in a house fire Sunday morning.

A neighbor reported smoke coming from the roof of a home in the 600 block of Solano Drive SE happened this morning around 8 a.m.

The woman was unable to escape through a back door and window, AFD officials said.

She was rescued safely and transported to UNM Hospital.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was also sent to the hospital. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Fire crews had a busy morning.

A house fire in the 5500 block of Edie Place NW was also quickly extinguished.

AFD officials said the fire started in the kitchen. The one person in the home escaped without any injury.
