PNM sending crew to assist with Sandy recovery

PNM has sent a convoy of forty employees to help deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
The employees said they're ready, but aren't exactly sure what to expect once they get there.
"Right now, we're going into a whole bunch of uncertainty. We hear that it's going to be hurricane-like conditions. We hear that it's going to be snow-like conditions," Chris Perez, a member of CNM's Assistance Team said.
Cale Chappelle, a PNM line worker, stressed the urgency of the situation. "They're saying that there may be snow and blizzards and everything by the time it's all over, so it's going to be even more critical if people don't have power. They're going to be cold," Chappelle said.
The PNM employees expect to be working on the recovery for nearly a month. Some employees were fighting for the chance to go.
Steve Dettmer of PNM said, "When you know someone has been without power for like, days or even weeks and you get their lights back on... I've gotten people with tears streaming down their face, like, thanking you and hugging you."
