A high speed chase on Albuquerque's West Side ended in a crash overnight.

Bernalillo County deputies say the suspect, Joseph Rael, 39, almost hit a deputy who was conducting a different traffic stop.

The deputy ended up following him to Coors and Fortuna, where Rael's car was T-boned.

Deputies say a minivan hit Rael's car after Rael ran a red light.

Rael, his passenger and the woman driving the minivan were all taken to the hospital, but are expected to be okay.

While being evaluated at UNMH, approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine were found on Rael.

His charges include aggravated assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, aggravated fleeing law enforcement, child abuse, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and DWI.

More charges may be sought pending completion of a search warrant of Rael's vehicle.

We're told Rael will be booked into jail after being released from the hospital.
