LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a motorcyclist who led state police on a wild high speed chase in Las Cruces faces a bevy of charges after he finally crashed his Suzuki.

State police spokesman Lt. Robert McDonald tells the Las Cruces Sun-News the Thursday morning chase left 24-year-old Dario Ruiz of Las Cruces with abrasions.

McDonald says officers first spotted Ruiz at about 8 a.m. and followed him onto Interstate 70, where he was clocked in excess of 100 mph.

He then left the interstate and began zooming through school and residential zones. State police called off the pursuit because it was too dangerous.

Las Cruces police had information on the motorcycle's owner and soon picked up the chase. They made the arrest after Ruiz laid down his bike.
