AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Hospitals that treated the bulk of the people injured in the Colorado theater shootings have written off more than $2 million in care they provided.

KUSA-TV in Denver reports the University of Colorado Hospital worked with Medicaid and private insurers so that none of their patients paid deductibles or other out-of-pocket expenses.

Doctors also wrote off expenses.

CEO John Harney says his hospital wrote off more than $2 million in care.

The HealthONE system, including Medical Center of Aurora and Swedish Medical Center, says it provided nearly $500,000 in charity care, not including what doctors didn't bill.

UCH and the Medical Center of Aurora helped treat some of the 58 people injured in the theater attack by a gunman July 20.

Twelve people were killed.
