A wildfire near Durango, Colorado is still burning strong Monday.

The Vallecito fire has now scorched about 1,000 acres.

The Vallecito fire was reported on October 16 and is located west of Vallecito Reservoir and County Road 501 on the San Juan National Forest.

We are told that it is burning in an area that has a lot of heavy fuels, including dead and downed trees.

That means it will likely continue to burn for several days to come.

Right now, no structures are threatened.
