SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico has moved up in the leadership of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The caucus announced Thursday in Washington, D.C. that Lujan was elected first vice chair for the next congressional session.

Lujan, a Democrat, represents the 3rd Congressional District of northern New Mexico and has been the second vice chair of the caucus.

New Mexico's newly elected member of Congress, Michelle Lujan Grisham, will be caucus whip.

Lujan Grisham, an Albuquerque Democrat, takes office next year representing the 1st Congressional District. She replaces Democratic incumbent Martin Heinrich, who was elected to the Senate.

Texas Democrat Ruben Hinojosa will serve as Congressional Hispanic Caucus chairman in the next Congress.
