Voter turnout dropped to 63% in New Mexico

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Voter turnout dropped this year, with only about 63 percent of eligible voters casting ballots in New Mexico's general election.
The state Canvassing Board on Friday received statewide election returns and certified winners with the exception of one legislative race with a pending recount.
About 786,500 voters cast ballots in the general election.
The turnout rate is the lowest since the 2000 presidential election when 63 percent of voters participated. Turnout was about 70 percent in the 2008 and 2004 presidential elections.
There's a pending recount in a state House race between Republican Paul Pacheco of Albuquerque and Democrat Marci Blaze of Corrales.
Before the recount, Pacheco was leading by 66 votes. The canvassing board meets Monday to certify the recount's results.
