Sandia Peak Ski Area says it will postpone the start of the 2012-2013 ski season until sometime after its traditional opening date of Dec. 15.

In a news release, the ski area says it will announce an opening date "as soon as conditions allow."

Sandia Peak says its snowmakers are working hard and have had a "tremendous start" to this year’s snowmaking.

If there is any significant snowfall, the ski area could be prepared to open within 48 hours, the news release said.
