Albuquerque Police Department officers are searching for a man who shot into an Albuquerque home and nearly hit a one-year-old boy.

It happened near Coors and Interstate 40 on Telstar early Sunday morning. Diego and Holly Ortiz woke up to a man ringing their doorbell excessively and yelling. Holly Ortiz called police and minutes later shots rang out.

"All of a sudden, we just hear this loud bang. We both just fell to the floor because we didn't know what it was and our son was in the other room. We didn't know if they had entered our home yet," Diego Ortiz said.

One bullet went through the Ortiz's garage and hit the wall above their son's crib, but the little boy is okay.

When APD arrived, they analyzed the home and talked to neighbors. No one heard the incident or witnessed anyone suspicious during the time of the crime.

APD said they would patrol the neighborhood of the Ortiz's more over the next several weeks as they look for a suspect.
