The city of Albuquerque has taken the next step in getting a grocery store built downtown.

The city’s Development Commission picked a local developer to build a store.

The 6,000 square foot store will be built on Silver between Second and Third Streets.

The building will also be home to 61 apartments.

Space will also be available for other restaurants or businesses.

The city hopes to break ground on the project within a year.
