RIO RANCHO, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez says the shooting deaths of a New Mexico pastor, his wife and three of his children allegedly by the pastor's son was "horrific."

Martinez said Thursday at a press conference on the state's improved high school graduation rates that "our hearts break for the family" of those who were killed.

The governor says she hopes that members of the media give the family space to mourn and to figure out their next steps.

Fifteen-year-old Nehemiah Griego is facing murder and child abuse charges in the deaths of his family. They were all found shot to death inside their rural home south of Albuquerque last Saturday.

A private memorial for the family was scheduled Friday in Albuquerque.
