SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - A Western New Mexico University project aimed at producing a documentary on Chicano music in Grant County is searching for a theme song.

The project announced this week that it has launched a singer/songwriter competition to select the song for the upcoming documentary.

Officials say entries must consist of original songs between three and a half and five minutes long. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges after a live performance and winners will be announced in August.

The documentary will celebrate the history of Grant County Chicano musicians from the post-World War II era to the present.
