New Mexicans react to Obama's Boy Scouts statement

President Barack Obama stood for the gay community being allowed into the Boy Scouts of America Sunday in an interview with CBS's Scott Pelly.
"Gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does in every institution and walk of life," the president responded to Scott Pelly's question about gays being allowed in the BSA.
The reaction is over the recent discussion of the Boy Scouts of America lifting its ban on gay scouts and leaders.
The BSA group in Albuquerque would not comment last week on the subject and did not pick up on Sunday after KOB Eyewitness News 4 reached out for comment.
But people around Albuquerque said plenty to say.
"Gay people should be part of everything that we all do. They shouldn't be held back from doing anything that anybody else does," Nicole Boyon said.
"I believe in the Bible. I do not believe in gays and gay rights and that's just the way I feel about it," David See said.
Others commented about the president getting into the issue at all.
"The president should speak out for equal rights to everybody. Women, gays, all races, everything, that's what the president should do," Tom Guralnick said.
"Really up to the Boy Scouts and not Obama. He has an opinion, just as well as I do. I believe gays should be allowed in the Boy Scouts, but I don't think it's Obama's place to influence a private organization," David Vanderberg said.
The BSA is expected to possibly act on the issue at the national executive board meeting in Texas this week.
