PORTALES, N.M. (AP) - Officials at Eastern New Mexico University say they have set a new record for spring enrollment with 5,222 students.

They say enrollment is up 2.7 percent from last spring's record, and student credit hours are up another 2.6 percent over last year for a total of 52,373 credit hours.

University President Steven Gamble says the combination of quality and low cost is driving ENMU's growth.

The university offers more than 60 degrees at its campuses in Portales, Roswell and Ruidoso. Gamble also says the university's new residence hall is getting positive reviews from students.
