Los Alamos graduate Ryan McNiff became just the 5th New Mexican to ever break the 4 minute barrier in the mile.  McNiff clocked a time of 3:59.11 last week at the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas.  McNiff took third overall.

McNiff's time qualified him for the USA Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque next month.  McNiff currently trains with an Adidas-sponsored team in Texas.  McNiff is a 2006 graduate of Los Alamos High School.

The other New Mexicans to run a sub 4-minute mile are John Baker (Manzano), Chuck Aragon (Los Lunas), Dan Maas (Santa Fe Prep) and David Krummenacker (Las Cruces).
