ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A three-day, two-night trip to Florida by University of New Mexico, city of Albuquerque and other officials cost more than $20,000.
The Albuquerque Journal reports documents requested showed that cost was for a January trip to Gainesville, Fla. to explore a program between the University of Florida and the private sector.
That program aims to bring research and economic development together in one place.
The meeting was attended by nine UNM employees and administrators, including president Bob Frank.
Also present were Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry and state Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela.
Frank said planning for and attending the working conference was a wise investment. Berry, in a statement before the trip, said he supported partnerships that create economic opportunities.
