Former Maine prosecutor pleads guilty to fleeing to NM

BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A former Maine drug prosecutor who was convicted of child pornography charges has pleaded guilty to fleeing the state after losing his appeal.
James Cameron was sentenced in March 2011 to 16 years in prison after being convicted of 13 charges of possessing and transmitting child pornography.
The 50-year-old Cameron from Rome, Maine, had been free on bail while his appeal was pending.
But law enforcement officials say he disabled his electronic-monitoring bracelet and fled the state in November after a federal appeals court upheld six counts for transporting, receiving and possessing child pornography.
He was arrested 17 days later in Albuquerque. Now he faces additional prison time. No sentencing date has been set for the contempt charge, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
