ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A neuroscientist wants to make his field more understandable to the general public by comparing it to zombie behavior.

Timothy Verstynen, a Carnegie Mellon University professor, is scheduled Thursday to speak at the University of New Mexico and explain how the behavior of horror movie zombies can be understood as a series of neurological impairments.

The lecture entitled "Of Zombies and Brains: The Life of a Neuroscientist" embraces Verstynen's "rebellious side" by confronting the minds of the walking dead during the comparison.

The UNM grad has produced education videos on TED Education and blogs regularly on neuroscience topics.
