Police find dead body near Bernardo

Socorro County Sheriff’s deputies and New Mexico State Police say they discovered a body Wednesday in the Rio Grande near Bernardo.
The body was found near U.S. 60 and the river.
According to a news release, identification of the body was not possible at the scene.
The body was transported to the Office of Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for an autopsy to determine cause of death and identification.
The case is being treated as a suspicious death.
The investigation is active and ongoing at this time and police ask anyone with information to contact the New Mexico State Police office in Albuquerque at 505-841-9256.
