SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Two men from Espanola are in custody after a month-long investigation into cocaine trafficking in New Mexico's Rio Arriba County.

State Police say 49-year-old Phil Benavidez and 32-year-old Aaron Sanchez both are facing federal charges for cocaine trafficking.

They say almost two pounds of cocaine with an estimated value of $30,000 was seized during the investigation along with two vehicles and $2,900 in cash.

The operation was conducted by the Region III Drug Enforcement Task Force.

That's comprised of agents from the State Police, Santa Fe County sheriff's and police departments and done in conjunction with the FBI from Santa Fe.

Authorities didn't immediately know Friday if either Benavidez or Sanchez had a lawyer yet.
