Man runs over deputy's hand

A San Juan county deputy tries to stop a fleeing suspect, but hits a bump in the process... literally.
Deputy Justin Rieker's hand looks okay now, but it didn't feel that way Friday night.
"I remember feeling intense pain in my hand, but that's what I focused on," said Rieker.
About 10:30 Friday night, deputies were patrolling the sunray park and casino.
Now Rieker and the deputies patrol this parking lot often, and it quickly turned from routine, to something more exciting.
The San Juan county sheriff's department gave us their video of Rieker approaching two people in this vehicle.
"He took a big, deep breath and looked straight forward and I've seen that look before and it usually doesn't go well when they do that," said Rieker
When Rieker asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, the driver took off instead.
Rieker tried to put the SUV in park, but fell to the ground. that's when his hand was run over.
Deputies then chased Jose Velasquez and Amy Oros for about twenty to thirty miles.
Rieker was taken to the hospital for treatment and is doing just fine. for Rieker, Friday night's incident is just part of his job.
"Officers and deputies do this every day, we do this so society doesn't have to come face to face with this,” said Rieker.
Deputies ended up finding two guns in Velasquez's SUV. Both he and Oros are facing several charges.
