A student at an Albuquerque middle school says he was stabbed by his own teacher.

The student says his art teacher at Tony Hillerman Middle School punctured his thigh with an X-Acto knife last week.

He said he is not sure if it was intentional or an accident, but it is how the teacher handled the situation after that has the boy's mother fuming.

The boy says the teacher told him to clean out the gash in the bathroom then gave him a Band-Aid to cover the wound.  The boy ended up going to the emergency room after school and got the wound stapled.

His mother, who didn't want her face shown, wants to know why he was never sent to the nurse's office and why his parents and the principal were never contacted.

"I just want to know why the teacher is still there.  Why is she still working there?  Why is she still at school?" the mother said.

A spokesperson with APS told KOB Eyewitness News 4 that the incident is being investigated, but that the teacher has not been placed on leave.
