ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Beclabito man accused of causing the death of his juvenile daughter by serving her alcohol has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Stanford Benally entered a plea agreement Friday in federal court in Albuquerque.

He was arrested by the FBI last September.

Benally was accused of giving liquor to his daughter last May 19 in San Juan County.

He then allegedly left the unconscious and intoxicated girl on her bedroom floor without providing care and seeking medical assistance.

Benally has been in federal custody since his arrest and remains detained pending his sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.

Prosecutors say Benally faces up to eight years in prison and a charge of second-degree murder will be dismissed at his sentencing.
