It's opening day at Isotopes Park, and this year the food service staff is kicking it up a notch.
In this week's Best Bites we talked to the executive chef who says forget the peanuts and crackerjacks. They're going gourmet.
"It's a very picky crowd here in Albuquerque. They have very very good taste so we have to bring them the best," says Executive Chef Scott Eastburn.
Among the new items at the park this year on the concession level are a gluten-free boxed lunch and the dessert nachos.
"It's fresh fried cinnamon tortilla chips with chocolate sauce, a strawberry yogurt dipping sauce and fruit salsa," says Eastburn of the dessert nachos.
In the suites, you can find the new wrap sampler. That's 3 types of wraps: chicken caesar, steak and cheese, and pulled pork. Also new in the suites this year - dessert tacos.
"It's a homemade cinnamon taco shell with cinnamon sugar and we fill it with white chocolate mousse, blueberries, fruit salsa and strawberries on top," says Eastburn.
And new on the club level, you can find the sirloin handcarved sandwich.
