When Bloomfield police were called out to a Quik Mart to investigate a burglary they thought immediately it was an inside job.
"One of the entrance doors was unlocked, there's no signs of forced entry," said Detective Chad Herrera of Bloomfield Police Department.
When detectives retrieved surveillance video from a KFC, which is in the same building, what they found was surprising.
Look at the video, you can see two women come in, one wheeling in a mop bucket. She gets out a step ladder and then starts moving the camera with the mop handle. Investigators believe it was to turn off the cameras.
When detectives paused the surveillance video, they identified her as the Quik Mart district manager, Jolanna Carmona.
"I thought that was strange because I was told this district manager was very trustworthy within the business," said Herrera.
When detectives told the owner what they found, he told them about discrepancies in the ATM book that Carmona was in charge of.
It's at this point detectives started investigating a possible embezzlement case.
When the ATM ran out of money, the owner would write Carmona a check, which she'd cash and was supposed to put all the money in the machine.
After reviewing the books, the owner realized there was just over $25,000 missing. Carmona was questioned and later charged with embezzlement.
The owner declined to talk to KOB Eyewitness News 4 on camera but he did tell KOB from now on only the owners will have access to the ATM.
