Walmart has decided not to pursue any further efforts to build a store on the West Side of Albuquerque.

The Albuquerque Journal reports Walmart’s lawyers told the city’s legal staff they were not going to appeal the City Council’s rejection of the company’s plans.

The store was to be built at Coors and Montano. Neighbors in the area were opposed to the store and showed up at public meetings to speak out against it.

Walmart officials declined to speak to the Journal.
