CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Columbus man is facing charges after Carlsbad police say he punched his wife, bit her and cut her with keys.

The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports that 27-year-old Oscar Licano was arrested this week and even continued to yell at his wife with officers present.

According to a police report, officers found Adriana Licano cowering in the corner in a Carlsbad house with bruises and cuts.

The wife told investigators that her husband had threatened to cut off her head if she left him.  She also told police her husband had a history of drug abuse.

Licano is charged with battery against a household member, intimidation of a witness and false imprisonment.

It was unclear if Oscar Licano had an attorney.
