Pain and infections are among the complaints from nearly a half-dozen victims who have come forward to Santa Fe police.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke with a woman, who asked not to be identified, who is missing her four bottom teeth after she said El Dentista, Eliver Kestler, came to her house for a teeth cleaning.

She added, she paid him about $400 under the impression she would get replacement teeth, but never heard from Kestler again.

She contracted a severe infection and felt as if "she almost wanted to die."

Dr. Gabriel Royval is now treating a handful of victims who also went to El Dentista.

Royval specializes in cosmetic dentistry but also offers free evaluations and affordable treatments for those who may otherwise not go to a dentist at all.

He added, before getting any work done by a dentist, it should be obvious to patients that all tools are sterile and brand new.

Extensive technology and standards makes dentistry impossible in the backseat of a car or in someone's living room, Royval said.

Kestler is believed to have been practicing dentistry for nearly five years without a license, police said.
