Police have a man in custody who ran several cars off the road on Eagle Ranch Road near Paseo del Norte.
The car was driving westbound on Paseo del Norte when it was observed traveling 79 MPH in a 60 MPH zone by deputies conducting speed enforcement.
A stop was made near the Rio Grande overpass but as officers approached the vehicle on foot the driver sped off, running a red light at Paseo del Norte and Eagle Ranch and nearly hitting several cars in the process.
The vehicle then turned onto Eagle Ranch Road, traveling at a high rate of speed with officers in pursuit, running a red light at Paradise and Eagle Ranch.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle near the 9200 block of Eagle Ranch. The car rolled over before the suspect got out and fled on foot. Police captured the suspect near Congress and Bryan N.W.
Police have identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jesus Perez-Baca. Police say Perez-Baca was driving on a revoked license stemming from a previous DWI. It is not known if alcohol played a factor in today’s events.
Perez-Baca was taken to UNM Hospital with minor injuries. He will be charged with aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, reckless driving and several other offenses.
