Dog and cat lovers are converging on Expo New Mexico this weekend.

About a thousand dogs have set up shop at Expo New Mexico.

They're competing in trials sanctioned by the American Kennel Club.

"The nice thing about dog shows is people can just walk around look at all the dogs. They can talk to breeders about what kind of dog might be good for them," said Tiffany Roberts of Texas.

There is also a special kind of feline at the cat show looking to set a world record.

Motzie just might be the tallest living cat in the world.

The 8-year-old Savannah is garnering a lot of attention.

"It's a big cat and I want one," said Darren Bitsuie.

The crowd was eager to know just how tall the hybrid cat stands.

Motzie was measured three times.

The measurements will be turned over to the Guiness Book of World Records.

The previous record holder came in at 19 inches, but has since died.

Motzie came in at 15.5 inches twice and 16 inches.

Motzie could still earn the record for tallest living cat.

It'll take several weeks to know if Motzie earns the title.

Motzie will be at the cat show Sunday as well.

Both dog and cat shows continue Sunday.

The dog show will continue through Monday.
