Clopton pays big bucks to keep remaining dogs

By: KOB.com staff

An Edgewood woman arrested on dozens of animal abuse charges last month must now pay $15,000 to the shelter for the care of her dogs.

Debra Clopton was charged with the animal cruelty charges after authorities seized 48 dogs from her property early last month. The former veterinarian gave up all but 10 of the dogs to Santa Fe County.

She must pay the fines to keep the remaining dogs.
