Silver Alert issued for Texas man

New Mexico State Police has issued a Silver Alert for an elderly man from Texas who may be headed to Albuquerque.

Victor Vargas, 72, was last seen on Saturday when he left his El Paso County home.

Vargas is 5’11” and weighs 210 pounds. He has one brown eye and one blue eye, is slightly balding and has a tattoo on his right arm that reads “Vic.”

Authorities believe Vargas may have driven to Cloudcroft to a piece of property his wife owns before heading to Albuquerque. He is driving a Chevrolet Silverado truck with a Texas license plate of AC78811.

Vargas is believed to be in danger as he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and depression as well as having suicidal tendencies.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Vargas is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department at 915-546-2284 and ask for Deputy Jay Andujo.
