Off-duty APD officer rescues baby, others from burning building

Albuquerque Fire Department officials say a off-duty police officer rescued a baby and other people from a house fire Thursday morning.

AFD was dispatched to the fire, which occured at an amaprtment building on the 100 block of Glorietta NE. at approximately 7 a.m. Prior to their arrival, an off-duty Albuqueruqe police officer, along with an off-duty BCFD Division Chief helped to evacuate several occupants and their pets.

The APD officer, who has not been identified, has been taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

AFD investigators are on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
