It’s been a long three and-a-half years for the friends and family of Sister Marguerite Bartz, but today they finally got some closure.

“It was very tragic to lose Sister Marguerite as you know," Sister Mary, a friend of the victim said.

21 year-old  Reehahlio Carroll received a 40 year sentence, a far cry from what he could have gotten: A life sentence.

Carroll also received words of forgiveness from Marguerite’s fellow sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as from her own immediate family.

“I know when I said it, all of a sudden it got very hard but um, I know that's what Sister Marguerite would want,” Sister Mary said.

Before he was officially sentenced, an emotional Carroll stood up, faced Sister Marguerite’s family, and apologized. An apology, they say, they have to accept in order to move on.

“But in some ways it's so tragic for Mr. Reehahlio Carroll. Um, he has a very hard road ahead,” Sister Mary said.
