We told you about a brushfire last night along Tramway, now the bridge over Tramway is closed.
The damage is clear, but the cause, not so much.
All the damage was caused by the brush fire that started around 7pm last night along the west side of Tramway, between Menaul and Candelaria.
As of now, Albuquerque fire Department says they are still investigating who or what caused the fire.
This morning, fire and Department of Transportation crews cleared brush, trees and damaged wood from the bridge.
That is the first step before NMDOT can rebuild the damaged parts.
Until then, it will be closed to foot traffic.
People we talked to who saw the fire hit the walkway immediately knew what it meant.
"We use the bridge occasionally, we walk up to the Foothills that way, and it'll be a shame that it’s out of commission for a while, but the amount of fire that was on that bridge, it's no question that’ll be the case,” said Thomas Bright who saw the fire.
KOB is still waiting to hear from NMDOT on how long the bridge will be closed.
If a person is found to be responsible for the fire, he or she could be responsible for the cost of fighting the fire and repairs.
This fire took 12 fire units and 35 firefighters to put it out.
