AZTEC, N.M. (AP) - A Bloomfield man is facing several charges after allegedly selling a stolen pontoon boat to a scrap yard.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office says 49-year-old Jeffery Whisenhunt was initially taken into custody last weekend.

He's accused of selling or possessing thousands of dollars of stolen property from the Navajo Dam area.

Deputy Gary Mauldin tells The Daily Times  that the items included four flat-bottomed boats and several pontoon boat trailers.

The property - worth thousands of dollars - was stolen from a storage area at Navajo Dam. Court records show Whisenhunt is being held at the county jail on a $600,000 bond.

He's facing larceny, forgery and other charges.

Mauldin says Whisenhunt is now a suspect in several other larcenies in the Bloomfield area, and more charges are possible.
