Gov. frees emergency funds for severe storms, flooding

Half a million dollars is now available for areas damaged by recent storms and flooding.

Gov. Susana Martinez issued an executive order declaring an emergency throughout New
Mexico on Tuesday.

The money goes to the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to cover the cost of emergency shelter, food and health care for storm and flood victims.

The order cites the record-breaking hail storm in Santa Rosa, flooding in several counties and near 90 mph winds that ripped through the Albuquerque metro on Friday as reasons for the executive order.
