There will be no more student ride-alongs with Las Cruces police after an officer was arrested for having sex with a teen.

Michael Garcia is facing sexual assault charges.

A former student who worked with Las Cruces police says Garcia assaulted her after a ride-along in 2011. The girl was 17.

KOB Eyewitness News 4's media partners at the Las Cruces Sun News reported that the city's school district and police made the decision to stop the program so they can review related policies.

Garcia resigned last week.

He was a 15-year veteran with the force.
