GRANTS, N.M. -- Flood waters from the Village of Bluewater have made their way into Grants.

Over the weekend, heavy rain flooded Bluewater Elementary School and got into the sewer system. Undersheriff Tony Mace with the Cibola County Sheriff's Office said the city of Grants is concerned that the flood water from Bluewater is getting into the sewer system at multiple locations in the Grants area. The storm drainage system for Grants runs right through town, near the County Courthouse.

Grants High School dismissed at 1 p.m. due to flooding. A Grants Cibola County Schools official told KOB Eyewitness News 4 they are also monitoring an arroyo behind Mesa View Elementary.

Emergency teams are filling sandbags to keep water in the ditches.

Gov. Susana Martinez plans to stop in Grants today as part of her flood damage tour.
