ALBUQUERQUE -- A man is recovering in the hospital after escaping an apartment fire in northwest Albuquerque.
On Tuesday morning, Albuquerque firefighters responded to reports of heavy black smoke coming from the window of a West Side apartment complex, located on Sequoia Road near Coors Boulevard NW. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other apartments and extinguished the flames within eight minutes.
The only occupant in the unit escaped and was taken to UNM Hospital for smoke inhalation. He is listed in stable condition.
According to Melissa Romero of AFD, the cause is under investigation, but doesn't appear to be suspicious.
