Amtrak trains into and out of Albuquerque are delayed due to a freight train derailment west of the city on Thursday.
According to New Mexico State Police, the empty train was traveling near I-40 on Laguna Pueblo when strong winds seemed to cause the train to tip over. The train cars were empty, so nothing spilled at the scene.
Track sensors alerted an approaching train of the derailment and it was able to stop in time.
No one was hurt in the derailment and no roads were affected.
Amtrak officials tell KOB Eyewitness News 4 they are waiting to hear from BNSF Railway about the condition of the track before they resume train services.
