Snow was piling up in Taos today, which will delight skiers.
It's the same thing Sandia Peak is hoping for this year.
By this time tomorrow, we could be seeing some snow here.
Sandia Peak Operations Manager Brian Coon says Sandia Peak has already seen a little bit of snow.
"On Thursday, we had about an inch of snowfall. It melted pretty quick, but it was nice to get some moisture into the ground for later when the next snow hits," Coon said.
The wind and the snow haven't arrived yet, but the storm expected to hit Tuesday night is bringing a sense of optimism to Sandia Peak Ski Area.
Coon thinks that everyone in town will be excited to see the crest of the mountain covered in snow and the colder weather will get them thinking about the winter sports.
So keep your fingers crossed for heavy snow the rest of the season, because the slopes and chair-lifts could open earlier and longer if it does.
The projected date for Sandia Peak Ski Area to open is December 21, but Coon says that they could open earlier if more storms hit before then.
