ALBUQUERQUE -- A former Albuquerque police officer acquitted of murder must pay $3,000 worth of court fees from his trial.
On Wednesday, Judge George Eichwald denied Levi Chavez's motion to get the fees dismissed.
While Chavez was acquitted of charges related to his wife's death in July, he still faces a wrongful death lawsuit from her family.
Chavez has said he can't afford an attorney to represent him in the civil trial.
