FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say an injured Farmington toddler whose guardians are accused of child abuse has died.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Dustin O'Brian says Izakia Davis died Oct. 16 at a hospice where the 17-month-old boy was taken after being transferred from a hospital.

The Daily Times reports that court documents indicate the boy had a skull fracture, fluid on the brain and multiple broken bones. The documents also indicated he needed a ventilator to breath.

The boy's biological father, 23-year-old Angel Arellano, and his fiance, 21-year-old Leilah Hastings, were arrested Sept. 27 on suspicion of child abuse.
