A suspect was killed and an undercover State Police officer was wounded Thursday evening at the Los Lomas apartments in Española.

Agents from the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau went to the apartments at approximately 9:30 to look for 22-year-old Rogelio Cisneros-Chavez of Española. Cisneros-Chavez was a suspect in a larceny investigation and had an active warrant for his arrest.

Gunfire was exchanged, and a NMSP IB agent received a gunshot wound. He was transported to the local hospital and was coherent, talking, and in stable condition. Mr. Cisneros-Chavez received fatal gunshot wounds and died en route to the hospital.

This is the second officer involved shooting this week for the New Mexico State Police. On Monday, Christoval Quintana was shot and killed by officers in Roswell after a car chase.
