A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputy and an Albuquerque Police officer are now recovering from surgery after being shot during Saturday’s shoot out.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke with a family member of one of the victims.
Becca Morales said her uncle is expected to be okay.
She heard the news about the shooting from KOB and spent most of the day worrying about whether or not her uncle was hurt and he was.
Morales does not feel comfortable releasing her uncle’s name until APD does.
“I saw him yesterday and I had no idea, you know, that any of this could happen so quickly as it did,” said Morales.
She said her uncle was shot in the leg by the suspect, who also shot two others.
The others, an APD officer and a BCSO deputy were also shot.
Morales said she never knew what risk her uncle really faced when he was at work until Saturday.
“It’s still a little bit scary. Even the thought that he’s in danger while he’s in work, you know, it really came to us to know that every day he goes out something can happen,” added Morales.
Morales said her uncle has been with APD for 10 years.
