Two Albuquerque Police Department officers and one Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy were shot in the line of duty Saturday.
The suspected shooter is dead.
Saturday night, officers searched another location connected to the shootings.
It adds yet another location to a chase that left three law enforcement officers shot and the suspected gunman dead.
It started near Coal and Broadway, where police responded to a man walking with an AK-47. Witnesses say that man shot an officer in the area.
“Heard about 10 or 15 shots and that was it,” one witness said.
“We heard gunshots fire and saw the casings of the gunshots gather in the middle of the road,” another said.
“There was some blood on the sidewalk and we were told by officers that an officer was hit,” another said.
Then, the shooter led APD officers and BCSO deputies on a chase through the North Valley that ended on 4th between Montano and Schulte.
“Sirens just lit up everywhere from every direction. They were going both north and south,” a witness said.
“Tires started squealing, gunshots started firing,” another witness said.
During that time, witnesses describe the shooter firing rounds from an AK-47.
He hit another APD officer and a BCSO deputy. All three were rushed to the hospital. Sources say at least one officer has been released.
Officers confirm the suspected shooter is dead.
“It's pretty scary, pretty scary. I think also about the 2 state policeman shot last week and... You wonder what is going on in the world,” witness Joe Lally said.
