A man is in critical condition after being beaten by a stranger at an Albuquerque gas station.

Police arrested David Rogers for the beating on Friday.

They say Rogers was at the 7 Eleven on Central near University.

Witnesses say he had cuts on his face and appeared to be drunk.

Investigators say Rogers went after a man who asked him if he was ok.

The man grabbed a bat from the back of his truck, but Rogers was able to take it away.

Police say surveillance video shows Rogers hitting the man in the head repeatedly.

The victim was rushed to the hospital.
